Not a pleasing sight first thing in the morning…

So, if you’re from the area, I’m sure that you’ve noticed that it’s been raining for a while. This tree that fell in my yard made me notice a bit more. Because of the over saturation and strong winds, this tree just couldn’t hold on any longer. I’m a little sad to see it go, because I found a lot of multi-legged friends on it. But, in the process of cleaning up this mess, I’ve found a plethora of friends in the wake of the ‘incident’. I call it an incident because it sounds cooler than “a tree fell down”.

Digging isn’t as fun as when I was a child… It’s still fun though!

Not only did the tree fall and destroy my fence (as seen above), but it also majorly damaged the integrity of the retaining wall as well. I’ve since started rebuilding the wall and have found a huge amount of life within (most of which I’ve covered on this blog previously). I found tons of sowbugs, sowbug killer spiders, wood roaches, an albino cricket, salamanders, centipedes, worms, ants, and slugs. That seems to cover the majority of what I found. I got a few pictures for fun and will post them below.

I  love this one by the way!
