You know, I really really like this spider. On a cold autumn day, all I have to do is find one of these crawling around the house, use my imagination a little but, and pretend I am in a tropical paradise. I say this because of the uncanny resemblance these have to crabs (where do you think the name comes from?). The resemblance doesn’t stop at just the appearance; they even walk sideways like crabs sometimes.
Like the wolf spider in my previous post, these are also hunting spiders. See those impressive front legs? They use them to hold their prey as they deliver their deadly venomous kiss. They aren’t known to be venomous to humans, but please refrain from kissing them yourself.
