These are one of my favorites insects of the summer. I think I like them so much because they just seem to randomly land on you and by the time you notice them…Poof.. they’re gone. They are the Keyser Söze of the insect world.
The leaf hopper is very common throughout many parts of the world. They mostly feed on the sap from different plants. An interesting fact about them is that they grow from the nymph stage to the adult stage with no pupal stage. It’s kind of bizarre to see the half-developed nymphs hopping around because they don’t really look right….I managed to photograph one. Take a look below.
