Ladybugs are probably one of the first insects I ever considered to be non-threatening when I was little. Even self-proclaimed bug haters usually seem to have a soft spot for ladybugs. I think it’s just because they are pretty.
Aside from being pretty, they actually have a use in your garden. They are a natural predator of aphids, mealybugs, mites, and scale insects. Another interesting fact about them is that they intentionally lay infertal eggs among the fertile ones in order to give the hatching larvae a food source.
